Our Company

Our Vision

Calgren began continuously producing ethanol August 8, 2009. With our groundbreaking design, the plant is one of the most efficient operations and lowest carbon footprint facilities in the country. The plant is powered by an ultra-low NOx gas turbine generator capable of producing 5,800 KW of electricity, the exhaust of which makes process steam. We will achieve our goals through serving local needs. Each year 55 million gallons of ethanol will be trucked to Central Valley fuel blenders; 400,000 tons per year of WDGS animal feed will provide an attractively priced source of protein and nutrients to local dairies and feedlots; 1.5 million gallons of corn oil will serve local poultry producers and bio-diesel facilities; and we will bring new, high-quality jobs to the community.

Our vision is also on the future. We are investigating and evaluating alternative feed stocks, including wastes and cellulose. The cogeneration turbine is capable of operating on methane gas from local waste lagoons.

WDGS. local feed for your livestock

The nutrient composition of “average” distillers grains imported into the area can be quite variable due to differences in processing parameters. This is especially true with dried distillers grains in that proteins are subjected to heat. The most practical way to avoid variability is to buy from a local supplier like Calgren. Our distillers grains vary no more than the corn we process. Our goal is to provide a consistent, reliable source of feed for cows in the San Joaquin Valley. We have configured our plant for maximum “up time” and are committed to have stocks on hand to address minor outages.

ENVIRONMENT. sustainability for the future

The Calgren ethanol plant is dedicated to protecting the environment for future generations. Our new plant utilizes groundbreaking design and is one of the most efficient operations and lowest carbon footprint facilities in the country. The plant is powered by an ultra-low NOx gas turbine generator capable of producing 5,800 KW of electricity, the exhaust of which makes process steam. Our vision is also on the future. We are investigating and evaluating alternative feed stocks, including wastes
and cellulose. The cogeneration turbine is capable of operating on methane gas from local waste lagoons.

RENEWABLE FUEL. engineering modern life

Ethanol is one of the best tools we have to fight air pollution from vehicles. Ethanol contains 35% oxygen. Adding oxygen to fuel results in more complete fuel combustion, thus reducing harmful tailpipe emissions. Ethanol also displaces the use of toxic gasoline components such as benzene, a carcinogen. Ethanol is non-toxic, water soluble and quickly biodegradable.

Ethanol is a renewable fuel produced from plants unlike petroleum-based fossil fuels that have a limited supply and are the major contributor of carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions, a greenhouse gas.

CAREERS. come grow with us
